[10] Music's Got Me Keepin' On: A Tribute to Prelude
We are pleased as punch to share with you all a great mix from Chicago's SoundInBetween, spotlighting choice cuts from Prelude's magnificent catalog. Prelude [1976-1986] is one of those special record labels at the right time and place, straddling the end of disco and riding straight through towards boogie gold, moving countless bodies in the process. Lots of heat on this one, enjoy!
-A&A
We'd also like to share that SoundInBetween and Sold (Hugo Ball, Smart Bar) have a fantastic new monthly starting this Saturday night (24th) at Cafe Mustache in Chicago called "Caught Up." They'll be playing back to back bringing you tons of great tunes. Don't miss it!
From our selector: "Though Prelude's heyday is long since past, it's a testament to the longevity of the label's output just how fresh these songs still sound today. I was lucky to first stumble upon the label 12 years ago when I bought my first big collection, and have since spent some good amount of time learning, digesting, and buying more in order that this tribute could eventually result. I hope it's a useful summary of the high points of Prelude's dancefloor-geared material (all from singles) and, though these songs are not rare in any sense, in my opinion it is uncommon for boogie to be This Damn Good.. so get down!"
